So I know I haven't been on here much lately. Things have been insanely busy, but we sure are having fun! I do want to let everyone know that the campaign is running great, and I am so excited by the response that Tom is receiving around the state. This guy has fans all over the place, and he makes more every time we go somewhere.
Just to get people started on getting to know Tom, I have included a link below to his website position on Higher Education:
Tom's hard-work as chair of the House Higher Education and Workforce Development Policy and Finance Division is one of the major reasons that I support him and have decided to work on his campaign. From his first day as chair, Tom consistently put the needs of students, faculty and staff ahead of the interests of the bureaucrats and special interests. You may not know that when he first took over as chair, he called nothing but students in front of his committee for the first month or so of hearings. I know this because I was one of those students (I'm somewhere just before the 60 minute mark), and I was very impressed with Tom's dedication to the issues that affect the people on the ground.
In the three years since those first days of Tom's chairmanship, he has consistently worked hard to increase access and affordability for higher education across Minnesota. From holding down tuition increases and protecting the state grant program in the face of the worst economic downturn and budget crisis in generations, to working hard to remove barriers to access for middle-income and low-income students, Tom has always shown his dedication to students. In addition, he has worked hard to protect the workers at our institutions in the face of growing administrative costs and mass lay-offs at our public institutions.
This is exactly the kind of hard work and dedication to average Minnesotans that has been so blatantly lacking in our executive branch lately. Bring Minnesota back to greatness: Elect Tom Rukavina Governor of Minnesota in 2010!!
P.S. This campaign can only continue with your support. Tom doesn't have a million bucks, but he has you. Take the time now to donate $10, and do it again in 2010. All of your support is greatly appreciated. Together we can take this state back to greatness!!
