To get to the Governor's mansion, Tom needs our help. He may not have millions, but he has moxie; he may not have a lot of cash, but he has a lot of compassion for the ordinary people of Minnesota who do extraordinary things to make this state great. And the biggest thing that Tom has going for him is all of his friends and supporters. Friends like retired sheet metal worker George Sundstrom, who says Tom "places a high value on loyalty" and hasn't "diverted from his working class background." Supporters like Rep. Al Juhnke from Willmar, who shares an apartment with Tom in St. Paul during legislative session. Al is the chair of the Agriculture, Rural Economies and Veterans Affairs committee in the House, and he knows Tom would be good for Greater Minnesota and for farmers across our great state.
Supporters like this will help make Tom's journey to the Governor's office easier, but we also need the support of everyday Minnesotans. Take the time now to give a few dollars to the campaign. Maybe you can give ten bucks, or maybe you can give a hundred. Every dollar will get us closer to restoring our state. With your help, we can get Tom elected and get Minnesota back on the right path to being a national leader in education, being a place where you can find a good job with good benefits and a living wage, and being the place where your children and grandchildren will have the same great opportunities that we all did.

An Accessible College Education and a Good Job
So I know I haven't been on here much lately. Things have been insanely busy, but we sure are having fun! I do want to let everyone know that the campaign is running great, and I am so excited by the response that Tom is receiving around the state. This guy has fans all over the place, and he makes more every time we go somewhere.
Just to get people started on getting to know Tom, I have included a link below to his website position on Higher Education:

Rukavina officially announces his candidacy for Governor of Minnesota
Duluth MN (Sept 7, 2009)—Minnesota’s working families need a Governor who will be honest and stand up for them, according to State Representative Tom Rukavina (D-5A), who announced his candidacy for Governor today at the annual Labor Day Picnic at Bayfront Park in Duluth.
Rukavina, a Virginia native who is serving his twelfth term in the Minnesota House, was first elected to the legislature in 1986. He is one of the most popular political figures in Minnesota, consistently getting 75 to 80 percent of the vote in his home district.
Rukavina believes his “working person’s ethic” and refreshingly honest approach will have strong appeal to voters across the state. He describes himself as a passionate progressive, true to the original spirit of the Minnesota Democratic Farmer Labor (DFL) party.
